Hello. This page used to be a detailed description all about me, the webmaster. I used to change this page a lot when I became uncomfortable with what I had written. You don't want to give out too many personal details, right? It's probably easy to discover my personality just by reading the pages on this site, so instead, I will dedicate this page to the history of this site and my previous webmastering attempts.

Misty's Cyber Cafe was created some time in 2022, but I have been making webpages since I was a kid. Something fascinated me about the internet, and I was eager to get my own pages out on the Internet. I think I just thought it was cool to have your own content out there for the world to see. My oldest sites were not handcrafted with HTML, but mostly with drag and drop software.

My first website making experience was with Microsoft Publisher 2003, although none of those sites ever made it live. I was around five at the time. I was very ambitious with that program. One of my sites was an attempted email service, the other was a site where you could submit recipes using HTML forms. None of these would've probably worked in reality, but they felt impressive at the time. When there are not many video games in the house and your parents barely let you use the Internet, you end up messing around with productivity software for hours.

Once I actually got to be able to visit more websites, I ended up trying out many different website making services, like Wix and Wordpress. One place that I was quite active in was MyFirstWorld, this dodgy looking place that allowed you to make basic virtual world sites with currency and logins but mostly just static HTML pages. This site is closed now, but my old sites are still partially archived. They were filled with Blingee images of Nyan Cat and Moshi Monsters. Most of the users were kids too, and we were quite creative with the limited tools we had.

A few years later, I decided to learn basic HTML. I made a very basic site, which was literally two pages with a few lines of text. This was the basis for Misty's World, my previous Neocities site. And where did I host it? Not Neocities, yet. I hosted it on Geocities Japan. Nobody visited it and even if they did, they wouldn't like it because I didn't know what content to add. Also, Yahoo Japan put a load of annoying Japanese adverts everywhere. This site was an incredibly pointless experiment. I also had a Blogspot and Wordpress blog, but my posts were lame. Soon Geocities Japan closed. (It closed many years after it did everywhere else.) That was when I found out about Neocities through a comment on this random third blog I owned.

Finding Neocities in 2017 was like opening a door to a new world. Seeing everyone else's sites gave me ideas for my own. Soon, Misty's World was there, and it was actually quite popular. The good thing about Neocities is that it's incredibly easy to garner traffic on your site. All of my older projects were only visited by me and maybe my friends, so they never gained the popularity I envisioned. Somehow, it got to the second page of the Neocities homepage sites list! Every year I would give Misty's World a new makeover and completely update the CSS design. In my opinion, there weren't many interesting pages there. The CSS was also super wonky and ugly. That's why I decided to abandon ship, and create Misty's Cyber Cafe. I also had an otome game blog, I wrote a lot on it but absolutely nobody visited it. That site has also been abandoned.

Hopefully this new site will endure for at least five years. The design isn't as sexy as most other sites, but I don't care. My focus has always been more on the content rather than the aesthetics. I am good at designing things, however when it comes to CSS, or any type of computer programming, my skills are limited. I will be happy if at least a few people somewhere enjoy this place. My goal has always been to make one of those interesting sites that you can browse for hours, becoming completely immersed in it. Those have always been my favourite places to visit online.

If you are wondering about the name "Misty", know that I don't actually care for this name anymore. Even when I created this place, I didn't like it. It's just stuck over the years, and I couldn't think of anything else. "Misty" came from a name I got from a My Little Pony name generator a long time ago. It's short for "Mist Chaser", which was the name of this pegasus OC I had. Mist Chaser sounds dumb, so I shortened it. Misty is somewhat catchy, and it's good to have a catchy online name.

Please enjoy the rest of my site! If you want to contact me, don't bother commenting on this site's Neocities profile. I never read the stuff there.
