PsychicEmotion6
Developer: Idea Factory/Otomate

PsychicEmotion6 (pronounced "Psychic Emotion Mu), is probably the rarest game I own. I didn't spend much money on it when I bought it, but I think now it sells for much more because the PS Vita is getting older. Apparently, this game didn't sell many copies. There isn't much about it online, apart from a few blog reviews. Some PSN trophy collecting services use it because it's easy to get a platinum in this one.

PsychicEmotion6 is a 2016 otome game (a female orientated romance visual novel), based off the drama CD series of the same name. If you know me well, you'll remember that I am obsessed with otome games. This game in particular was never brought outside of Japan. The language used is fairly easy for beginners of Japanese to pick up, however. Unlike some of Otomate's titles, this one seems to be designed to be more accessible for newcomers to the genre and younger players. The age rating is CERO B, which means it is recommended for those who are 12 and older.

The game follows the heroine, Hikari (pictured on the cover), and the six alien princes who land on her doorstep. It turns out that the princes are after Hikari because she's the Chosen One, or something like that. (Sorry, it's been a while since I last played this one...) Hikari lets them stay in her massive house, and so the story begins. Like every other otome game, there are multiple branching routes where the heroine can persue a romance with each of the main characters. There are multiple endings for the routes, and playing them unlocks a special cuddle scene with each character! If you are a sucker for bishounen and romance like me, then you'll probably like this. The only thing I don't like is that some of the routes are repetitive, and I don't appreciate the high school setting that much.

While PE6 does have a lot of flaws, I love it a lot. I feel bad that it's so underrated. The art is just so pretty! The general aesthetic with all the stars and bright colours is right up my alley. It's one of my favourite games on my shelf to look at because of the design. My favourite route was Tsukasa's, it felt quite unique and it sometimes made me feel actual emotions.

The characters are also entertaining, their interactions are quite fun to watch. There are some popular voice actors present who do a great job portraying the love interests. Those used to some of the localised otome probably won't like this one as much, but you never know. It doesn't seem like this game has a very big following. Even Otomate themselves don't care much about it anymore. There are no Switch ports, character songs, or even any more drama CDs besides the initial releases. But I will proudly set up a fan club for this game. If anyone wants to join, email me!

While physical copies of the game are likely rare now, you can still get PE6 on the Japanese PSN store! I recommend playing it in November or December, since the story contains winter and Christmas themes.
