This is one of the few Barbie Collector dolls I own. She's the 40th Anniversary Barbie, made to commemorate Barbie's birthday in 1999. I also have the 50th Anniversary doll, but I'll show you that another time.

Her outfit is based on the original swimsuit the very first Barbie wore back in 1959. Her bouquet apparently contains forty flowers, but I haven't counted them to check. I love her hair a lot, I wonder what it would look like if you took out the hair bands and the styling gel? You can't see it in the picture, but her earrings are little gems. On the left is a little replica of the first Barbie doll.

Here is a close up of Barbie. I think she looks very glamourous and sophisticated. The 50th Anniversary doll is also nice, although I don't think that doll really looks like Barbie. It just looks like someone else, whereas the 1999 doll actually feels like it's supposed to be Barbie.

Here is the replica doll. It's so cute!

The back of the box just contains marketing lingo that says how wondeful the doll is, and tries to encourage people to get into Barbie collecting. Mine's in English and French cause she's a Canadian doll, the boxes from other countries probably look very different. This photo's not very good, sorry about that.
