Fashion Fever is one of my favourite Barbie lines. It is the predecessor to today's Fashionistas. I always liked how the realistic the outfits were, and that many of the dolls had interesting hair colours and face moulds, they weren't just all the same generic blonde Barbie.

I had a lot of Fashion Fever dolls growing up, as well as some of the fashion packs. A lot of the clothes have seen better days. Maybe I'll do a page on them someday. Fashion Fever dolls are common on the second hand market, and what I am going to show you on this page is one that I got brand new a few years ago. She is named Drew, and she was released in 2004. There were quite a few Drew dolls produced. This line had many different characters, but I don't think their personalities were ever fleshed out.

This Drew came in one of those tube boxes, which I no longer have. The best thing is that she came with a stand!

Her outfit is very oriental inspired. I think the jacket and the top underneath are all one piece, but I wouldn't know for sure because I've never taken her clothes off. The trousers are the best part for me. Her handbag/purse can open, I don't think there are even any Barbie accessories that could fit in there, however.

My camera couldn't capture her face properly, but you can still see that she has beautiful green eyes. Drew's red hair is quite smooth and shiny. There aren't enough Barbies with this hair colour, it's quite lovely. There are a few darker highlights mixed in amongst the red.

Most of the other Drews I've seen have the same face, and usually the same hair colour. Some of them have wider eyes and freckles.

If your wondering about her articulation, she has a standard 2000s body, with those rubbery clickable knees. I believe that most Fashion Fever dolls had this body type, it doesn't seem like any were made more articulated than that.

I wish the new Fashionistas were as good quality as the Fashion Fever dolls were. My favourites of the Fashionistas line were the earlier ones that were fully articulated and had fun party outfits. Unfortunately, I only own one of those. If you are just beginning your Barbie collection journey, I honestly recommend you check out the Fashion Fever line. It lasted for quite a long time, so the dolls are plentiful. Some of them have fun makeup and hair gimmicks, but without sacrificing the quality of the outfit. There's also the older Fashion Avenue line, although I can't really tell you much about that one.
